"I want to thank you for a wonderful summer at Wychmere. The new energy that your team brought to the Beach Club was felt everyday we had the opportunity to be there. Both the beach and tennis clubs were buzzing with a fun and exciting atmosphere this summer which made this summer especially enjoyable. I know that closing the Club early was a difficult decision for your team to make and we are confident you did the right thing by the property and its members. To all of your team, many thanks for making the summer of 2010 at Wychmere so enjoyable. We look forward to seeing everyone next summer!"

"May I take this opportunity to express my thanks to all of you for your personal care for all of us. The special generous events, the many activities for the children, the new couches and flowers which added so much to our pleasure and the openness of our new owners has been gratefully recognized but all the members. I would like to thank you especially for the wonderful summer… May I complement also your pool staff and your dining staff. They were all so welcoming, patient, friendly, competent and helpful. I look forward to seeing them again. Of course Bruce has been terrific…hands on..even to playing kickball as part of the staff against the kids!"

"This was the best summer in a long time; staff seemed more upbeat and your “upgrades” around the club were appreciated. We look forward to more of Wychmere — Simply Beach in the future!"

Anonymous: Just wanted to thank you for a lovely weekend. Even though Sunday was hectic, the staff did an excellent job handling the masses. Thank you all especially for Monday! Everything was so perfect and handled so elegantly. We had to leave early for sports practice and hated to go. We're so looking forward to next year. The Prendergast Family

Glad you were able to join us! Earl who? ‘Til next season.

"This morning, we’re all breathing a sigh of relief now that the threat of Hurricane Earl is behind us. We are happy to report that Wychmere Beach Club is fully intact, though some clean-up is required as a result of the storm. Our staff is spending all day (Saturday) retrieving furniture and equipment and resetting in order to REOPEN the club by Sunday at 10AM. Some items like the awnings and glass partitions will be missing, so please exercise added caution with young children. Both the pools and the beach will be open with towel, chair and umbrella service and a limited food and beverage menu will also be served. Chris and Adam are pulling out the grill to fire it up with burgers and hot dogs. Please enjoy ALL food and drink with our compliments.

While we may not be at 100%, we hope you’ll decide to join us Sunday and Monday to close out the season at Wychmere Beach Club in the same spirit that we opened at the start of summer.

Finally, to extend our gratitude, we invite your guests to join us at no charge. Thank you again for your patience and understanding these past few days. Your safety is our #1 priority!"

Anonymous: Please confirm that the gym will remain open. I am not sure how any protocol for a hurricane would have an impact on the gym. Thanks.

Right now we expect the Fitness Center to be open through the weekend. The Tennis Courts will also remain open until noon Friday, and if all goes well, will reopen on Saturday or once the storm passes. The only exception would be if the weather is severe both Friday and Saturday, in which case we will not open. Members are free to call Bruce Pelczarski, who will remain on-property throughout the weekend, should members want to clear out lockers. His cell is: 508-221-1570.

Dear Valued Members,

We regret to inform you that Wychmere Beach Club has been forced to close its season early due to the impending hurricane moving up the east coast. We’re aware that many of you had planned to join us on this last holiday weekend at Wychmere but it seems that mother nature has other plans for all of us.

It takes a full two days to implement Wychmere’s storm protocol, a necessary step to protect the property and insure the safety of our staff from the threat of a potential hurricane. These preparations, which began earlier today, require: we remove all tables, chairs and umbrellas; remove and store away glass panels around upper deck; remove beach kitchen equipment and store off site; dismantle pumps and pool heaters and store off site; shut down harbor club plumbing; shut down part of waste water treatment plant to avoid flooding and contamination of treatment plant; and remove harbor club furniture along with as much kitchen equipment as possible.

We simply cannot take any chances with a storm being called on tonight’s news “a monster that can turn on a dime.” We speak on behalf of the entire Wychmere staff and ownership when say we share your disappointment with the early club closure and cancellation of Saturday’s Labor Day bash. And though member satisfaction is our outmost priority at Wychmere Beach Club, safety trumps all else.

Until now, it’s been a summer of spectacular weather and fun times at Wychmere. And though we’re saying goodbye a little early, we are confident our renovation plans will reveal a Wychmere Beach Club for you and your family to enjoy in 2011 and many seasons thereafter. In the interim, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Very truly yours,

The Ownership & Management
Wychmere Beach Club
